Right now I'm reading The Glory Bus by Richard Laymon (one of my all-time favorite authors). Been waiting a year to read this, 'cause it was just so hard to get in Taiwan.

A People's History of the United States: 1492–Present by Howard Zinn. Dopeness. Don't read much non-fiction. This is cool though.

I brought Shanny's favorite book, of all time with me on my trip, but I've not started reading it. Was going to start, on the plane, but my mom and I played a game out of a puzzle book on both legs of the flight here.

The book is called: Where The Heart Is

I saw the movie, and I really enjoyed it, a lot. I'm sure that the book is even better.

Here's the plot for the movie, and I'm assuming that it's basically the same in the book:

Novalee Nation is a pregnant 17-year-old from Tennessee heading to California with her boyfriend Willie Jack, but is abandoned by him at a Wal-Mart store in Sequoyah, Oklahoma. Novalee has no job, no skills and only $5.55 in her pocket, so she secretly lives in the Wal-Mart until her daughter Americus is born six weeks later. Novalee decides to raise her daughter and rebuild her life in Sequoyah, with the help of eccentric but kind strangers. Based on the best-selling novel by Billie Letts.

Lawless, I read that book! It was a really good read. I didn't know there was a movie out about it.

I'm reading Forever Odd by Dean Koontz. Downloading the third book in the series Brother Odd as we speak.

I read Forever Odd a few months ago. I'll grab Brother Odd when it's out in paperback. To be perfectly honest, I'm not all that keen on the Odd character... he's interesting enough, but after 3 books it better be leading somewhere. I'd like him to finish up the 3rd Frankenstein book sometime soon!

I got Koontz's The Husband to read when I'm finished what I'm currently reading.

My mother and I have been awaiting the third Frankenstein book too. I'll have to re-read the other two before it comes out. It's been a while.

I keep getting mad at myself for starting a fiction book and not finishing anything I've written. So that means I have all these books I want to read and a flashing cursor on a blank page. It's a viscious circle.

Invisible, my girlfriend (mzkitty) LOVES the book, and movie. Her all time favorite. Anyway, she got me to watch the movie, and I loved it. So, I know that I will love the book too. You should rent the movie.

Better than being me, bro: finish what you write, then reading back and realizing you suck.

Hey, I still might suck. Maybe that's why I don't want to finish.

Plus man you would be surprised at what's actually published out there. You will always be your harshest critic. Maybe someone else will dig it. You never know. That piece of shit Eragon was published after all.

If the dude was in his 20's or 30's it wouldn't have happened; they only published it 'cause they could say "awww, innit cute, this 15 year old wrote a book".

True. Of course those same people obviously never saw Star Wars.

As a matter of fact I think I read somwhere that kid's parents self-published that steaming pile themselves and in a post-Lord Of Them Things/Larry Pooter world big publishing houses ate it up.

I'm waiting for it too. I'm not really a huge fan of his writing style, but he brought a fresh new take on the old monster.

Damn that is so true! So true. So, I need to look really young and try to pass myself off as a teen so I can get my book published, have it sell in the millions, then maybe get busted by Oprah or something.

Heck, I think my stuff isn't that good. I read it back and think that it amuses me and interests me, but I'm an easy sell.

You never know unless you try.

I doubt Ms. Rowling knew she had a billion dollar idea when she was jotting down musings about a boy wizard on bar napkins. What if she just wiped up a beer stain and tossed it away. I mean I wouldn't really care if she did but there are a lot of people who would.

Pick up the book I'm reading, Whidden. It's called "Into The Fire" in the US, and it's pretty good. It'll at least give you an idea how much of a sick puppy I am. Richard Laymon's writing isn't all that pretty, but he's got a way of getting to you. Plus this book's got a character named Duke who talks similar to the way I imagine you do. Calling people hombres and all that.

I'm reading "Mistress of Dragons" by Margaret Weis.

My hubby needs to get me a new mouse so I can start working on my books again. I have all these ideas for Fuscia and Macer and no mouse to use.

Quote :
One moment Pamela is a contented newlywed with a loving husband. The next, she's the prisoner of a repulsive killer who has lusted after her since high school...

Norman wouldn't normally say boo to a goose, so he's never going to throw bad-boy Duke or hitchhiker Boots out of his car. Together the lawless pair take him on a journey that's heading straight for the electric chair.

But then the glory bus drives by, offering escape and a hope of salvation to all, and Pamela and Norman are two of those who ask to clumb on board. They don't know their destination will be the furnace head of the Mojave Desert, where a special welcome awaits them. It can't be worse than what's gone before - can it?
I'm almost done on it, but it's one of my more favorite of Laymon books (which is quite an achievement, considering he wrote it from 'beyond the grave' woooh oooo).
