Just finished Little Women for the 100th time. Such a great girlie book!

Now re-reading Animal Farm by George Orwell. All it's communist references are SO obvious, I have no idea how he managed to get this published after the war, but good on him! It's a wierd book, it reads so easily, almost like a kids book, but it has such a message behind it.

Yup that's the one! Let me know what you think of it when you're finished with it. I finished it in about a week because I couldn't put it down in my spare time. Of course I was just starting school and working so I didn't have a lot of spare time....lol.

Well Atonement was really good! I plowed right through it.

I'm being forced to read Kite Runner. Everyone and their mothers say its great. The summary just sounds like a snorefest. Anyone think it was good? Anyone read it?

Still reading Angels & Demons. Over halfway done. It's getting better.

Werid thing is, I know I should like it more. The subject matter is dope, but I just can't get super hooked on it. Maybe it's dudes writing style.

I've actually read every book that's currently out and available in the Twilight series. I was on a book splurge this past summer and if it had a cover and pages with words in between, then I read it. The Twilight series is very good, though I am seriously not at all looking forward to the movie coming out. I have no intentions of seeing it.

Why aren't you looking forward to the movie? I can't wait.

I'm about finished with Twilight, and my friend is bringing me the next two books, tomorrow. I really, really, realllllly love Edward!!! Smile

I just started "New Moon" and my friend dropped off the third book as well. So, I will get to read 'em all. I just want Bella to be "changed" and join the ranks of the family. Smile

Books play out in my head like movies as I read them anyway. I can't see the guy that played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter doing Edward's character any justice whatsoever. My head makes each character in the books look a certain way, sound a certain way, act a certain way...all of that will be completely different in an actual movie based on the books. Because of the way that I see them as I read the books, I seriously can't see any movie coming close to bettering that. Books are always better than movies anyway and I would really hate to see Hollywood butcher this series. I don't want the way that I see each character to be messed up. I like the way that I see them and the way that my mind makes their voices sound.

I read the first book in a day, the second book in two days and the third book in two days. I have a really bad habit of not reading books any more after movies have been made from them, even if the book is better. I would really like to read this series again at some point. I also can't help but feel like I would be grotesquely disappointed in the movie if I was to watch it. They're going to leave chunks out. The characters aren't going to be right because they weren't plucked out of my head...It's just better if I don't see it.

Perfect Victim: The True Story of "The Girl in the Box"
by the D.A. (Christine McGuire) that prosecuted her captor.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Some may find it unbelievable that a 20-year-old Oregon woman could be enslaved by a sexual sadist for seven years--that even after being able to move freely during the day, she would allow him to lock her into a wooden box every night. Perhaps it's a minor failing of this book that the authors do not elaborate on the psychology that made her such a "perfect victim." In other respects, though, the story is well told, with an impressive accumulation of details: the woman's capture, the tortures she endured, the brainwashing techniques, the fiendish contraptions her captor constructed, the slave contract he made her sign, and the increasingly strained relations within the peculiar family that included master, slave, wife, and child, all inside a single-wide trailer. As well-known attorney and author Vincent Bugliosi writes, "A gripping and disturbing story of the secret life of apparently normal people. At once, horrific and engrossing."

From Publishers Weekly
Hitchhiking from Eugene, Ore., through northern California in 1977, 20-year-old Colleen Stan thumbed a ride into hell. Her kidnappersa sadistic lumber mill worker, Cameron Hooker, and his battered wife Janicesubjected her to seven years of torture and sensory deprivation. She was made a sex slave, kept locked in a wooden box and brainwashed into believing that an underground network of sadists would recapture her if she attempted to escape. Did Colleen fall in love with Cameron and make herself a willing partner in a love triangle, as the Hookers' defense lawyer asserted? The jury found otherwise, convinced by the evidence marshalled by coauthor McGuire, state prosecutor in the case, a trial that journalist Norton attended in 1984. Not for the squeamish, this harrowing tale shuttles between the courtroom and the grisly doings in the Hookers' basement.

I liked it.

The main dude is a retard, and he kidnaps a baby for ransom. He loves the kid, but he is really stupid.
You emphatise with him, but he kills an old lady. It got confusing you know.

Parts of it was really funny, like when he calls in his ransom, and he calls the operator to get the number, and she asks what his name is and he tells her. (she tells the FBI)
He don't think about it till hours later that he told her his full name.

He thinks he is being sly, but them coppers are all over him within a day or two.

It was a good book though.

Interesting thing, if you read Roadwork, the main dude is nutz, and has an alter Ego named George that he talks too.

Blaze has an alter ego named George that he talks to, and it tells him to do things. Never figured out if it was supernatural, or it was a split personality of his own mind.

Nothing is happening so far and I'm 50 pages into it. You'd think SOMETHING would have happened by now!
