Just when you think you've heard everything horrible in the world. This daycare is ten minutes from me, and thank god, was my second choice for daycare for Paige. The gunman was the husband of one of the teachers, went in, she was herding 3 yr olds into the bathroom to try and protect them. He shot and killed her in the bathroom with them, and splattered them with blood. Their 3 year old daughter also went to school there, not sure if he killed her mother in front of her. This daycare has the same code-entry as Paige's daycare, but the guy scaled the back fence and went in the playground door. (Can't lock that one in case of fire.) I can't believe how rotten the world has gotten, this just floors me.

Shitballs, that sucks. Hopefully they're young enough to forget that. Could mess those kids up for a while.

Well I can't remember anything from when I was 3. Of course I didn't see someone get capped when I was 3, either.

Can anyone remember something traumatic from when you were that age?

Even if they dont remember it per se, the effects will still be evident well into adulthood. Fear of loud noises, strong dislike or fear of men resembling the shooter ( men with beards as an example ) etc

Not to joke up the thread, but I did pee in my mouth while in the bathtub when I was 3, I remember that. I also remember going to Six Gun Territory when I was 3.

Yeah, something like this, I bet most of them remember it.

Kids there were from birth through 5 years of age. I remember getting lost before I started school, I must have been 4? I don't know that I even understand that kind of fear, never having been faced with crazy person with gun. The guy ran through the school waving the gun, one of the teachers jumped on him to try and stop him, but he tossed her off. Meanwhile all the teachers were cramming kids in the bathrooms in all the different rooms. That's just a situation I can't imagine as an adult, let alone as a little kid.

I am having a hard time resisting all the comments I want to make about David peeing in his mouth in the tub. silent ::snort:: I will abstain at this time, but if someone else starts, it's fair game.

I wrongly figured you all would be mature and feel sorry for my 3 year old self, but now I see how it really is. Cool

Brilliant, just brilliant.

I remember stuff from before I was 3. I fell through a rubber tube in a pool and swallowed a whole lot of water, and my uncle jumped in to grab me under the water. I was 1 and a half then, but can still remember it.

Now you all leave poor Whizzle alone!:irked: There is no reason to tease him. There is only one logical question to ask:

I learned a powerful lesson that day. To never ever ever do it again. Ever.

What do I have to do to be teased around here? Pee in own my mouth?

Well at least you learned it young.

You never know how things will effect a child. When I was a kid, my dad was an alcoholic. He stopped drinking when I was a teen. I was out with my mom in the middle of Mervyns. I was about 23, and my dad would die later that week. She starts talking to me about the time my dad was arrested at work for being drunk in public. He worked over at North Island, so it was the MP's that got him, but there was a huge storm, and I had the flu. We had to drive all over San Diego to get to Coronado, cross the swaying bridge to pick him up. I was about 4 or so at the time, and I only remembered the ride over to get him. She tells me that he was in handcuffs, and I freaked out. I started yelling at her in the middle of the store, calling her a liar. And her face just falls and she goes "OMG you don't remember. You didn't talk for over 24 hours after it happened. We pulled up to the base, you dad was in cuffs, and you just went all mute and didn't talk. You went to your room and you just rocked back and forth like that for hours. We thought we would have to take you to the hospital."

Now when she said "you don't remember" I had a flash of his face in the rain. As a kid, I adored my dad, and the thought of him doing something so wrong was way too much for my little brain to handle. I blocked that memory for almost 20 years, I can only imagine how horrible the kids will feel about what they saw.

Yeah, them memories hide deep down, and they can resurface if you think just the right thought, and it trips some electric pathway.

I did once spray my ventaline puffer up my nose. I thought it'd get into my system quicker. Just burnt like a motherfucker.

That's a pretty brutal memory Sherry. You've got to wonder how many of those kinds of memories we all have repressed that we just can't recall. Probably better off not remembering, most of the time.

Why yes, you have to pee in your own mouth or something equally strange.
