New Mexico and Kansas seem like they're going to be McCain by a land-slide. Which is fine, because it doesn't mean he gets more votes whether he gets 100% of the State or 51% of the State, right?

Never mind, it looks like Iowa will be called blue. Ohio seems to be headed that way too.

North Dakota seems like it will be called red any time now.

Yeah McCain and Palin took a bit a thumping tonight but I think they saw it coming I think Obam was more charesmatic, tapped into the younger generation and was better organised pretty much from day one and the differing reactions during the financial crisis in mid September pretty much killed McCain off.

Though McCain has been gracious in defeat and gave a very good speech although Palin was the opposite she looked annoyed and shocked and was even booed by members of her own party I think

I think Palin scared a lot of voters.

I mean... thinking about it, McCain wasn't a young fellow anymore and the idea of him dying in office and Palin taking over... that fills me with a dread so deep you can't quite imagine.

I'm not a huge fan of McCain's either. Although he does have my respect in many ways, his policies don't really sit with me and that goofy grin he got on his face every time he thought he said something smart just bugged me. Also what's the deal with his neck? Where do his cheeks end and his neck begin?

But that's neither here nor there.

We were celebrating, big time, tonight... as we witnessed HISTORY happening, before our very eyes. Baracks speech was absolutely amazing. And I'm glad that America got it right. Now, we can SLOWLY work toward changing the state of things, here in our country.

When McCain was giving his speech, near the end, the camera went to Palin, and she looked sooooo damn close to being in tears. I'm sure that this was a hard blow for the Repub's... but, I thought that John McCain gave a wonderful speech, and I loved how he asked for everyone who supported him to now be of a support to our next President.

And then... OMG... as Obama was speaking, near the end, he said something like: "For those of you who didn't vote for me, I can hear your voices, and I will be your President too." That was awesome. He isn't going to turn his back on the people.

Sooooooooooooo, here's to hoping that we will finally have a President that will make a difference, here in our own country... and that we can see our economy back up, and jobs made available, and people not losing their homes... and so much more.

I agree, McCain's speech was great. I haven't gone over Obama's yet, but I'll probably see it on CNN later.

I'm very glad to have the Democrats back in power again. Hopefully a lot will change.

Grant, I'm trying to find the transcripts of Obama's speech. It was just brilliant. And damn, watching the people there, in Chicago (Oprah was there) just watching, and celebrating... it was amazing. We had a friend, there. She lives in Chicago. I envy her for getting to be a part of that moment in history.

I saw bits and pieces, but I'd like to see the whole thing.

This is a very exciting moment. I'm not surprised at all that he won, but it does feel good that this has actually happened. I mean, not only is George W gone, but we're gonna have a break from Republicans in general for a while. But furthermore, an African American is actually going to be president of the United States. Amazing.

It's all so beautiful. We sat at our friends house (a group of us) and just cried, as the polls here in California closed. Just moments after they closed, Obama was predicted as the winner... and then, McCain gave his speech. It's still so extremely surreal... that we have a black man in the white house, leading our country (well, in Jan we will). FINALLY, there has been a time where people have looked past skin color, and decided that it was time for a change. How beautiful is that? We are slowly moving forward.

Grant, you've got to see the entire speech. I'm serious. I was just awe struck.

It was a great speech.
I thought that was Oprah in the crowd!

Emma, Oprah was most definitely in the crowd. She was right up near the front. The camera panned to her several times. They even interviewed Oprah, shortly after Obama was announced the winner. Smile

With all the prejudice and hate going on in the world, I was so proud that my daughters got to witness this event happening. Finally, people looked past the color of skin and past a name and voted for a man they believe is going to bring change and hope to this country again!

I'm so proud to have voted for Obama because I truly believe like no other I have voted for, that he will be honest and do what he can to start this country on the right path again.

Meh, we've already had a black president. Anyone remember David Palmer? Duh.

Plus Rutherford B. Hayes was 1/10 black.
