PostSubject: my poison finger   Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:30 pm

I was helping my dad put in a deck the other day and I got a splinter in my finger. Its twice the diameter of a toothpick and about 5/8'' long and I couldnt get it out

The problem is, its pressure treated wood. I know they used to use arsenic to treat wood in the old days, but I dont know what they use today.

Im hoping that when the puss volcano occurs I will be able to get it out. If not, I wonder what chemicals my body is about to absorb

I had a HUGE splinter/wooden spike in my foot that I thought I had gotten out but I had missed half. It was in my foot for over a month before the puss pushed it out (I would have gotten it out but I did not know why my foot was pussing cause I didn't know there was still a splinter in there). I wouldn't wait for that. Maybe it would be worth cutting out if you can see it?

when the puss comes stick your finger in a sink full of hot water as hot as you can handle that normally helps wash everything out failing that the chemicals could make you into some kind of cool superhero Decking-man sounds good in the unlikely event of that happening

I'm not sure that they use arsenic anymore. I would be more worried that leaving it in would cause a bad infection and possible something like a staph infection or sepsis. Sounds like a pretty big splinter. If your're going to wait and see if it will come out on it;s own I'd keep a close eye on it. If it starts getting hot, really red or if you start feeling sickish.

You wouldn't want to have to get your finger amputated. I'm sure even Wood-man still has plenty of uses for it.

They still use arsenic over here to treat wood, but I don't think there's enough in it too make you sick from a splinter, my dog ate a arsenic treated log and he spewed, but otherwise he was fine.

Im really disappointed that it hasnt done much of anything.

After a week its still a bit pink and swolen, but its under the meat in my finger , so nothing has reached the surface.

BORING!

Maybe you should stick another bit of wood in there just to see what happens or maybe you shouldn't take advice from me
