PostSubject: Scream 4 (2011)   Mon Apr 19, 2010 1:31 am

Wes Craven has been announced as directing. Kevin Williamson is finishing off the screenplay (or has already finished), which means it'll be the first Scream movie he's written the screenplay for since Scream 2.

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are apparently returning.

So, okay, this is the thing. I'm super hyped about this movie. For real though. I loved Scream, thought it was a brilliant movie. One of the best horror, slasher flicks there is. Scream 2 was almost as good, and probably has the best opening scene of any horror movie ever. The Scream 3 came along and I was like what the fuck is this. It's an okay movie, but it became cartoonish in places (perhaps intention to make a point of how a lot of horror series' do that?) and there's this whole thing where the killer has a voice box with their voices. What kind of bullshit is that? Stupidity.

So, yeah, okay, I'm more than happy that they're doing Scream 4 and I'll be there to watch it.

Aren't they planning Scream 4 as the first in a new trilogy?

Yeah I heard that's the plan. It'd be interesting to see where they go with it.

Apparently Kevin Williamson said it's got references to all kinds of currently popular horror flicks, like the torture porn kind and Japanese supernatural horror. I hope they're just references and they keep the series grounded. It'd be weird if they got all... horrorific on us.

I hope they don't kill off Sydney, Gale and Dewey. That would make the first 3 movies completely pointless.

Weak.

They could have just had a new cast. Suppose the three main players don't have much of a movie career anymore.

I bought Scream 1 on blu-ray in Australia. 13 bucks wasn't bad, though it's a bare-bones disc and it's not really remastered to a super-high quality. It's a million times better than the crappy full-screen DVD release though.

I've been reading that Kevin Williamson is not involved in some script rewrites and that they've brought Ehren Kruger in (who did the suckfest that is Scream 3) for the rewrites. We'll see how that goes down.

They've already started filming, the script must suck if they're doing major re-writes at this point.

Probably not major then.

I dunno about Ehren Kruger, you know. Arlington Road is like one of the most kick ass movies ever (the first time you see it, the rewatch is also good, and the third time you're like 'meh').

The rest of his filmography ain't all that.

I just cannot get behind Hayden Panettierreieieiieerree being in this. She cheapens it somehow.

They don't show up for me, but I may have seen them on aintitcoolnews or one of those other sites.

I don't mind Hayden whatserface. I mean, as long as she dies in this and isn't the star, I have no problem with it. I'm pretty sure that Emma Roberts chick is the star, so I won't let it bother me.

I read the script for this is apparently 140+ pages. This could make for a movie more than 2 hours long, so it'll be cut up from that... but that's fantastic, to be honest. I hope they do have a 2 hour horror/slasher flick because I don't think anyone's ever done it. And you know this movie's gonna make money.

I re-watched the first 3 Scream movies over the last few weeks. The first one still holds up, its very good. They get a little bit worse as they go through, but still all good movies. I forgot how many people are in the movies. Porcia DeRossi is one of the Sorority girls in the 2nd one! There's a lot of familiar faces that I can't put names too, but I know them somewhere from something. It's amazing how young Neve Campbell & Co look, especially in the first one. I hope they don't all look super old in the new one/s.

Portia DeRossi AND Rebecca Gayheart. Neither of which I gave a shit about when I first watched it. Heather Graham gets killed at the start of "Stab" which is pretty bad ass, and I loved how they cast Tori Spelling as Sydney after she made a joke about it in the first movie (good on Tori Spelling for going along with it too). Omar Epps (now of House fame) gets killed in it too.

I like the second movie a lot... until the end. It just didn't make any friggin' sense. I mean it did and it didn't. With time I've accepted the ending more, but it just didn't have the punch the ending of the first movie did. One other thing I like is the whole idea of 'recreating woodsboro' with the names of the victims being similar. Pointless.

Speaking of Pointless, the third movie. From start to finish. Utter crap. There's hardly any interesting dialog, the idea of the killer being able to mimic people's voices using a device is absolute science fiction bullshit (not to mention didn't make the movie the least bit interesting) and it had the most pointless ending of any movie I've ever seen. I mean Sydney and the killer, as far as I can remember, were never in the same fucking room during the whole movie. He pulled off that mask, I'm surprised she didn't squint at him and say "who're you again?"

Yeah, gives a bit of the plot which is similar to what I'd previously heard but with a bit more flesh. We'll see what the final product is, but I mean the way it's being made out it's going to be a great movie.

Yes, it kills any of the previous movie posters. But they couldn't use something like this until now, since the whole mask/knife thing wouldn't have been instantly iconic to audiences 10+ years ago.

I watched Scream 4 yesterday morning and absolutely loved it. It was the best one since the first movie, without a doubt. They made sure of it. The opening scene cracked me up while scaring the living shit out of me, and the ending was just one thing after another.

The great thing about the movie is you had so many potential killers that a) you think of every possible killer and why and b) when you discover the real killer or killers you're not disappointed and... um... well, let's say I reckon this movie has very clear message to it.
