I'm psyched for this. If done right, it could kick major ass.

They've said that it'll deal with aspects of the original story, but will also be it's own thing. Fair enough. They've got a lot of work to do because without being able to incorporate a lot of the original cast they need to come up with some way around certain plot elements. Let's see what they do. I'm excited though.

PS. The name was announced today (hence the title).

Days of Future Past????

Wasn't that the one where the Sentinels control the future but Kitty Pryde sent her mind back in time to prevent that future from happening? I recall it introduced Nimrod the super-sentinel and Rachel Summers the new Pheonix.

One thing I never got where that timeline was concern was how in the hell the Sentinels ever got hold of Magneto.

That sounds about right. I'm personally more familiar with the cartoon series where they used Bishop as the Kitty Pryde character (they didn't have Kitty Pryde), so I'm not entirely sure about how the Sentinels got Magneto.

One thing that's exciting, though, is there's no way they could do this story-line without Sentinels in one shape or form. They've been putting them off in the movie series for the longest time, even though the producers and directors and writers had to have known that everybody wants to see the X-Men taking on Sentinels more than anything.

Best we had was a head in X-Men 3.

No doubt for the film they will use Bishop instead of Kitty Pryde. Its easier to explain a person travelling through time that it is just explain someone sending their mind into their younger self. Plus Bishop is a badass and Hollywood loves them - as an afterthought, what do you think of Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson for the role, he's apparently going to be Lobo in the up-coming DC Film.

The only real alternative to Bishop is Cable who is another time-travelling badass but he's more to do with Appocalypse than the Sentinels.

Nimrod will probably play a role given the fact that he has shapeshifting powers. He'll probably be sent back to hunt Bishop and stop him changing time.

Knowing Marvel it'd be some crap like plastic Sentinels capturing Magneto - which doesn't make sense because even plastic Sentinels would have curciutry and run on electricity and its childs play for Magneto to manipulate that - because Marvel always writes Magneto weak, especially in films.

I recall in the Days of Future Past timeline Magneto was crippled and in a wheelchair, and Gambit was a blind, slightly mad, seer called the Witness.

You're probably right. If they were going to use Kitty Pryde, it would have been a good idea to introduce her in "First Class". To introduce her at the start of the second movie, then take her away because she's inhabited by her future self... it wouldn't make any sense!

Unless Kitty Pryde just comes back in time herself. They don't really have to stick to the story 100%. Think of the Phoenix Saga as shown in X-Men: The Last Stand. But hopefully not crap.

Didn't know any of that crippled Magneto and blind Gambit stuff. Sure they could skip some of it if it doesn't fit. I know Gambit showed up in X-Men Origins Wolverine, but I can't for the life of me remember what time period he was supposedly a part of. When did Wolverine Origins finish? Around the Vietnam War? I swear I don't remember much of that movie.

This is provided they're still going to try to keep continuity with the original X-Men movie series. I assume they are.

I saw this film last week. It was pretty good, though Bishop didn't really do all that much of anything - they used Wolverine instead.

Quicksilver's scenes seem to have been the most well recieved, McAvoy and Fassbender put in good performances again as Xavier and Magneto, Peter Dinklage as Bolvier Trask was interest, the acting all round was pretty good - except maybe the guy who played Striker - and so were the effects.

One of my favorite moment in the film was when we got to see Magneto actually deal with a Sentinel as he always should and rip it to shreds without any effort or even a second glance, but future Magneto didn't really do much either.

One more thing: APOCALYPSE!
